Western hosted The Hon. Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, and The Hon. Nolan Quinn, Minister of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
  
Together with leaders at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and universities across the province, we welcomed their announcement of $220 million in funding to support future family doctors who practice in Ontario after graduation through expansion of Ontario’s Learn and Stay Grant program.  

The Ministers also met Western Nursing students at one of the Clinical Skills Laboratories at Western's Faculty of Health Sciences.

Western President Alan Shepard and Schulich Dean, John Yoo, expressed gratitude for the government's investment in programs like nursing and medicine, which enables Western to prepare exceptional professionals who meet health care needs in Southwestern Ontario and across the province.
